Power and Authority

Jehovah's Witnesses get their power and authority over their followers simply by boldly claiming from the pulpit and in print;

The Watchtower organization is "ruled by the direct administration of God."

(WTB&TS Qualified To BE Ministers 1967 p. 380)

. . . "we shall not be suspicious, bu shall, as the Bible says, 'believe all things,' all things that the Watchtower (magazine) brings out."

(WTB&TS Qualified To Be Ministers 1955 p. 156)

And that recognition of the Jehovah's Witness leaders, i.e. The Governing Body, . . . "is necessary for submission to the headship of God's Son."

(The Watchtower December 15, 1972 p. 755)

If the Jehovah's Witness group members buy that, and buying that is demanded by the leadership as a requirement for being a member, then the Watchtower organization's indoctrinated massas, past and present, are very vulnerable and inclined to believe, and worse, to practice, the Society's rules for behavior.  Some of the Jehovah's Witnesses rules for behavior currently are;

Lie for us, die for us, sell our new books.  Watch how you dress, we judge you by looks. Into the winter getting cold feet, sales for salvation, quotas to meet.  Beat on your children, make them sit still, all for Jehovah, they never will.  Don't talk to family, friends you once knew, out of the old world, in with the new.  Get your speech training, let the words flow, if you've got problems, don't let them show.  This month a new offer, newlight to share, oh, by the way, go cut your hair.  A suit and a skirt, a tie and high heels, they've got the best offer on scriptural deals.  No hell or high water, no luck and no fate, no heaven to promise the millions who wait.  Attend all the meetings and sing out of key, just right behavior for elders to see.  The Watchtower study your favorite, no doubt, the current edition, can't wait to get out.  You now can take transplants, medicine too, and vaccinations, you're safe from the flu.  You can not take blood, but you can eat lard, and you sure look good on your field service card.  A bag and a Buick, a janitor job, ten hours a week from your family you rob, to go out in service to spread the good news, an evening at home and a bottle of booze.  The organization decides what you hear, I guess they know best, the end is so near.  A day then a month, a year then a life, a heart that's so cold it won't cut with a knife; The anger I feel when you walk in the room, a head full of fear and preaching of doom.  Your life just gets harder, the sins pile up, just pass by the bread and pass by the cup.
